Welcome to the College and Career Readiness Center!

We are here to serve students who are looking to obtain obtain their GED, learn English as a second language, or prepare for college courses and career training classes!

Our College and Career Readiness program offers adults, out-of-school youth, and non-English speaking community members in southeastern Idaho an opportunity to take Adult Education courses and English as a Second Language (ESL) courses at no cost to students. We offer day and evening in-person classes and several online sections to help students with busy schedules.

Get your GED®/College Prep

Students are offered classes to help them prepare to take and complete their GED at no cost.

GED Prep Classes

  • Our classes will help students improve their reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, and science skills. We offer classes at the following locations:
    Idaho Falls (CEI Campus), Rexburg (Teton Business Center) & Salmon.

Steps to get started

  1. Sign up for a free account at GED.com and add CEI as your testing prep center.
  2. If you require disability accommodations for the GED exam, these must be obtained before scheduling. For more information visit or call the Disability Resource Center at (208) 535-5462.
  3. Watch the introductory video or attend orientation in person.
    • In-person orientation takes 15-20 minutes in Building 3, Room 345.
  4. Fill out the required Questionnaire, based on the information provided in the introductory video, and submit.
  5. Schedule a CASAS placement test.
    • A link to schedule CASAS placement testing will be provided once you submit the required Questionnaire.
  6. Please Note: Students who are under 18 years of age will need to complete and submit a youth waiver before taking the CASAS placement test. Email it to us at ccr@cei.edu or bring it in to our office at 1600 S. 25th E., Building 3, Room 345, Idaho Falls, ID 83404.
  7. Enroll in GED/College prep classes with an advisor immediately after finishing the CASAS placement test.

College Prep

Students who have their high school diploma or GED may enroll in CCR’s College Preparation classes. These courses help students review the foundational skills needed for success in college Math, English, Social Studies and Science courses.

Steps to get started

English as a Second Language (ESL)

Improve your skills through the College of Eastern Idaho’s English as a Second Language (ESL) program. We provide the instruction you need to meet your education and career goals. No-cost classes are available Monday through Thursday.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes

Here at CCR your success is our top priority!

We provide no-cost classes to help students build the skills needed to meet their education and career goals. Our classes will help learners to improve their reading, writing, speaking, and listening in English.

Steps to enroll in classes:

  1. Schedule a CASAS placement test by calling (208) 535-5386

  2. Take the CASAS test, then meet with a CCR advisor to enroll in classes.

ESL Citizenship Test Prep

Citizenship Test Prep classes occur on a rotating basis depending on interest level. These classes will help students learn the requirements for applying for citizenship and prepare them for the interview process.

Steps to Enroll in Classes

  2. Take the CASAS test, then meet with a CCR advisor to enroll in classes.

ESL Career Pathways

We offer the opportunity for English language learners to improve their English while obtaining job skills and/or vocational training. Classes are held on a rotating basis. To attend these classes, you must be willing to take an English assessment, be at least 16 years old, and otherwise not be enrolled in the public education system. There may be classes that have additional entrance requirements.

Certified Nursing Assistant Prep (Pre-CNA)

  • Certified Nursing Assistant Prep (Pre-CNA) is for English language learners who wish to take College of Eastern Idaho’s Workforce’s face-to-face Certified Nursing Assistant course and become certified nursing assistants but want more preparation first.
  • Students will begin to learn hands-on healthcare skills specific to the role, the relevant vocabulary as well as reading and study skills needed to succeed in the face-to-face course.

Digital Literacy

Improve your knowledge of technology. Learn the basic operational functions of a computer, understand email features and etiquette, learn online safety, and learn the basics of Microsoft Office Programs like Word and Excel.

Enrollment in Digital Literacy must occur concurrently with enrollment in either the English as a Second Language Classes or the GED/Skills Improvement Classes.

  • Choose "Adult Education (College and Career Readiness)" from the first drop down, then choose "Adult Education Testing (GED/College Prep)" OR "ESL Testing."
  • Then choose "CASAS Adult Ed Placement -Test" or "CASAS ESL Placement-test."
  • Choose a date and time and fill out the required information.
