January 30, 2024

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — College of Eastern Idaho (CEI) announces President Rick Aman has been selected to receive the Phi Theta Kappa Shirley B. Gordon Award of Distinction, a prestigious award for community college presidents.

College presidents and campus CEOs are selected for this award based on outstanding efforts given toward promoting the goals of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) and overall student success. This award is named in honor of the late Dr. Shirley B. Gordon, PTK’s longest serving board of directors and long-time president of Highline Community College in Washington.

President Aman is applauded for taking an active and direct interest in the leadership development of CEI’s PTK Honor students. The award is special because the nomination comes directly from CEI Honor Society Chapter students. President Aman stated — “I am so honored with this recognition. I have always been a great supporter of PTK and we have an awesome staff and student group here at College of Eastern Idaho.”

CEI’s PTK Chapter is part of the Rocky Mountain Cascade Region (RMCR) which includes lower half of Idaho, Oregon, and Utah. It has been five years since a president from RMCR has received this Award of Distinction.

The Beta Chi Psi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at College of Eastern Idaho is a prestigious and distinguished honor society that recognizes and celebrates the academic achievements and leadership potential of community college students. Our chapter is an integral part of the global Phi Theta Kappa organization, known for its commitment to scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship. For more information— https://www.ptk.org/
