Placement Testing
The majority of our programs do not require placement scores to be admitted to CEI, but some of our programs do require additional admission items. If a program you selected requires additional requirements such as Math, English, or Computer Literacy, scores, these items will be added to your list of “Supplemental Items” located in your application.
Testing is offered:

Program specific testing:
- Computer Literacy test is required for Computer Networking/CSEC/Web Development
- TEAS exam for PN and ADN programs
Required at testing:
- Copy of your receipt
- A valid Picture ID
- No calculator and no children

**Placement exams must start at least 3 hours before closing time. All other tests must begin at least 1 hour before closing and tests must be completed by the closing time listed.
SOAR - Student Orientation Advising & Registration
Students wishing to attend CEI will need to complete SOAR (Student Orientation Advising & Registration) before being eligible to register for classes. SOAR is an opportunity for incoming students to learn more about CEI and their program of choice and complete their first-semester advising and registration. SOAR is currently only available online via Canvas in an easy-to-use format. This setup is designed to help students learn how to use their personalized online portal and navigate their classes during their time at CEI.

Admissions FAQs
When should I apply for Financial Aid?
NOW – You do not need to be accepted to CEI to complete the FAFSA.
When should I apply for Scholarships?
NOW – The deadline for the CEI Scholarship application is March 1st. Foundation Scholarships.
How long does it take to get admitted?
Once the admissions office has received all application requirements the application will be processed within one week- sooner when possible.
What is a waitlisted program and how does it work?
Students are offered spots in the program in the order they are placed on the list. CEI’s waitlisted programs include: Automotive, Dental Assisting, Digital Media Specialist, Energy Systems, Heavy Duty-Diesel, Information Technology Systems, Light Duty Diesel
What is a competitive program and how does it work?
A competitive program is when an applicant submits program specific requirements and a committee selects students for admission. CEI’s competitive programs include: Health Physics, Registered Nursing, Surgical Technology, Welding, Cyber Security
Who can be enrolled at CEI?

- CEI does not support student visas
What is the cost of attendance?
$140 a credit with possible additional fees
What is the application fee?
CEI has NO application fees
When is the deadline to apply to CEI?
CEI admits students year-round. We strongly recommend you complete your application at least two weeks prior to the start of your desired semester. In order to guarantee a smooth start to your semester we recommend applications be completed two weeks before classes begin.
When does school start?
- Semesters start in late August, early January, and early June.
- CEI also offers 8-week block classes that start at the beginning of the term and at midterm.
