Essential Skills for Apprenticeship Readiness (ESAR)

Eligible for Advanced Opportunity funding

The ESAR program equips participants to apply for and enter the workforce or prepare them to begin a career in construction or enter an apprenticeship program. ESAR caters to new workers that may be recent graduates, seasonal workers, or those seeking a career change. The instructional units guide individuals to the career options and the essential employability skills necessary to succeed while at the same time aligning their interests and giving them a well-rounded foundation in several types of construction, covering topics such as construction career building, safety, construction math, hand and power tools, drawings, material handling, leadership, and communication skills. The course offers exposure to basic skills in electricity, HVAC, plumbing, and general construction, fostering personal leadership and career development. Upon successful completion students will receive a Certificate of Completion as well as a Flagging Certificate.
