Faculty and Staff Resources

Please note: We have de-activated the faculty/staff referral form. CEI has now adopted a single streamlined “Report a Concern” form that you can access here, and also at the bottom of each page on the CEI website (the link labeled “Report a Concern”). This will allow students who are struggling to be brought to the awareness of not only Counseling Center staff, but also to various departments that can provide support.

One of the biggest sources of referrals to the Counseling Center are faculty and staff. We appreciate that our faculty and staff are looking out for our students and their wellness.

IMPORTANT INFO REGARDING REFERRALS: We are unable to reach out to students directly when we receive a referral from staff, faculty, or other students. We understand and appreciate the concern about the wellness of our student body. However, students are less likely to engage in or remain engaged in services that they did not initiate themselves.

We also ask you to consider how disconcerting, intrusive, and even possibly confusing it would be to receive unexpected contact from a therapist when you did not ask them to reach out to you.

Instead, we recommend that you either help the student you are concerned about request an appointment through the online system, or to walk them over to the Counseling Center. A warm intro via email is acceptable as well, and allows the student to own the process of requesting an appointment.

Please consult this Staff and Faculty Guide when trying determine who to contact when faced with a disruptive or distressed student.

Thank you for your support and care for the Falcon Family!

Requests for Presentations

Is there a mental health topic you would like to see come to your classroom? We do our best accommodate requests from faculty to present to students.

Here are a few presentations that we currently have in our library:

  • QPR-Question, Persuade, Refer. (Become a gatekeeper of suicide prevention!)
  • General Overview of the Counseling Center
  • Dealing with Difficult Behaviors
  • Therapeutic Communication & Relationship Development
  • And more! If there is a topic you don’t see here that you feel your students would benefit from, please reach out to counseling.center@cei.edu
