Assistance with Medications - UAP Training
Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) are unlicensed staff performing nursing care under licensed nurses' supervision. This role includes certain licensed health care workers extending beyond their typical duties. UAPs work in various settings like private homes, assisted living facilities, and foster homes but cannot assist with medications in hospitals or skilled nursing facilities. Only those UAPs delegated to assist with medications are required to take this course.
The "Assistance with Medications- UAP Training" course includes eight hours of training: five hours of classroom theory and three hours of hands-on skills practice. To pass, students must score 80% or higher on the written test and demonstrate 100% competency in practical skills. Those who don't pass must retake the entire course to qualify for retesting.
