Program Length
Intermediate technical certificate (ITC) 8-10 months:
Two full-time semesters in the professional program with extern/internship during the second semester or optional summer semester to complete extern/internship.

We are excited to assist you with your application and journey to becoming a Medical Assistant! All applicants must complete the following steps to be considered for the Medical Assisting program:
- Complete the general CEI Registration process
- Submit a Medical Assisting Enrollment Form
Medical Assisting applications are open year-round. Submit by July 1st to start the following fall semester.

Additional Program Requirements
After admittance into the Medical Assisting program, additional documentation will be due August 1st. A list of this documentation can be found in the enrollment guide linked below. We encourage all applicants to work on the documentation and immunizations prior to applying.

The Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB)
The Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB) is a Committee on Accreditation (CoA) for the Commission on Accreditation for Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). As a CoA of CAAHEP, MAERB performs the everyday work of accreditation for medical assisting education programs: setting up and conducting site visits, organizing and reviewing annual reports for compliance with established outcome thresholds, providing workshops, resources, and training for programs and site surveyors; and submitting recommendations for CAAHEP Board Action.
MAERB works collaboratively with CAAHEP to develop the CAAHEP Standards and Guidelines for the Accreditation of Educational Programs in Medical Assisting.
