The William and Shirley Maeck Student Testing Center at CEI offers a variety of academic and professional testing opportunities for students and the residents of Idaho Falls. We strive to ensure that the community we serve can take an exam without having to travel great distances to do so.

Below is a list of the exams that are currently offered at CEI. If you do not see the desired exam here, please contact the Testing Center, and we will be happy to learn if we can add it to our list of those we offer. Remember to schedule exams early!

*Note: Fees vary by exam, you are encouraged to pay in advance at the Cashier’s Office in Building 3. When scheduling an exam, the cost will be listed. The Testing Center is only able to accept exact cash or check.

ALEKS

The ALEKS exam is a Placement, Preparation, and Learning exam for math. Correct placement in the first math course you take while at CEI is critical for the best chance of success. ALEKS is not merely about Placement but also includes learning and preparation modules designed for students to enhance their knowledge in math and achieve more significant results on subsequent attempts.

Here are a few details about the ALEKS Placement, Preparation, and Learning exam:

  1.  Initial fee: $25 All Aleks attempts must begin at least 3 hours before the close of the Testing Center refer to test scheduling for hours of operation
  2. The initial price provides five (5) proctored attempts
  3. Must wait at least 48 hours between each attempt
  4. Must complete three (3) hours in the learning modules between the first and second attempt and then five (5) hours in the learning modules between each successive attempt.
  5. ALEKS scores are valid for two (2) years

Once students have completed their initial assessment, they can log in to their Aleks account at www.aleks.com.

Accuplacer

The Accuplacer exam is a placement exam for English at CEI. Completing the Accuplacer exam allows students to be placed in the correct English course at CEI. The Accuplacer exam is broken into two parts, a Reading section and a Writing section. Students must take both sections each time they attempt the Accuplacer exam.

The Accuplacer exam is $10 per attempt and can be taken as many times as a student would like to pay for the exam. Accuplacer scores are valid for two (2) years.

ATI – TEAS

CEI offers the ATI – TEAS exam to students interested in nursing programs. The TEAS exam can be used as an entrance exam requirement and consists of four sections.

Certiport

Certiport is the exam provider for credentials such as Adobe, Apple, Autodesk, Intuit, Microsoft, and others. Candidates may take their Certiport exams in the Testing Center.

To take an exam with Certiport:

  1. Find the exam that is to be taken on their website
  2. After finding the exam, candidates must register for the exam. After registering, they will receive a voucher from Certiport.
  3. Register for the appropriate exam length with the CEI registration system here: RegisterBlast.

CLEP

CLEP exams allow students to test out of introductory courses and move to more advanced courses sooner. For a list of the exams that a candidate may take, visit their website. CLEP exams may be submitted to receive credit at 2,900 colleges, including CEI.

Students interested in receiving credit at their institution should visit the appropriate institution's website. It is the responsibility of the student to understand what credit they will receive from the exam they plan to take.

CEI accepts CLEP exams and rewards credit based on which exam was completed. Students must receive a minimum score of 50 to be awarded credit for the exam. To see which exams and credits will be awarded, please visit the CEI Registrar’s webpage outlining information on CLEP exams.

CNA

CEI offers the CNA exam for those candidates that have met the requirements to complete the written skills portion of their CNA license.

The CNA exam is offered through Prometric, all candidates will pay a $29 fee to Prometric during this exam. Candidates must bring a card to pay this fee to Prometric on the computer during their exam. The Testing Center charges an additional $21 proctoring fee. The proctoring fee for a candidate's first attempt is included in their course fees, any additional attempts will need to pay the $21 proctoring fee. Candidates will need to know their Social Security Number for Exam Registration.

Digital Literacy

CEI has partnered with Northstar Digital Literacy for digital literacy assessments required to start certain programs. There is no fee to take the digital literacy assessments in the CEI Testing Center, but all attempts submitted must be proctored.

Candidates will take both the Basic Computer Skills and Internet Basics assessments. To register for the Digital Literacy exam in the CEI Testing Center, go to their website and select the appropriate exam from the list of options when registering.

DSST

DSST exams allow candidates to receive college credit by completing the exam with an appropriate score. DSST offers over 30 exams in both upper and lower-level credits. Students can find out what institution they are attending accepts credit from the DSST exams by visiting the website for that institution. CEI awards credit for DSST exams based on faculty recommendations and the American Council on Education (ACE) recommendations.

CEI is a DANTES fully funded institution. Eligible active duty military members may take the exams for no cost in the CEI Testing Center. DSST Exams are also approved VA National Testing Program for veterans eligible for the Post 9/11 GI Bill to be reimbursed for the exam and testing center administrative fees. ETS – Praxis

Praxis Exams are required for candidates in the state of Idaho seeking initial teacher certification or endorsement. CEI is an ETS-approved site and offers Praxis exams to candidates.

GED (Pearson VUE)

GED (Pearson VUE) – If you are uncertain whether you have the level of skill needed to complete a GED successfully, CEI offers free preparation classes in the College & Career Readiness Center (CCR). How to schedule a GED
  1. Complete the GED registration requirements at the GED website.
  2. If under 18, complete the GED Age Waiver and return to CCR, John E. Christofferson (Big 3) room 345 for approval.
  3. Schedule your test: all scheduling is done through www.ged.com or by calling 1-877-392-6433
    • Payment is made during the scheduling process. Payment must be paid with a debit or credit card.
  4. Be sure to review your receipt via email with details of test time, test center address, identification requirements, etc.
  5. Required when arriving for testing:
    • A current, valid form of identification (i.e., a signed Driver’s License, State Identification, Passport, or Military ID). The identification name must match the registration name.
  6. Arrive for the scheduled testing appointment
    • If you do not show up for your testing appointment, you must reschedule with www.ged.com to test at a future date; prior payment will be forfeited.
  7. Students who pass the GED will be notified via email with links to download electronic versions and instructions for ordering paper copies.

General Education Development
The Tests of General Educational Development (GED) --developed by the General Educational Development Testing Service of the American Council on Education (GED Testing Service)-- require extensive preparation and the demonstration of an elevated level of high school knowledge and academic skills. The GED Tests are administered in Idaho only at Official GED Testing Centers under the direction of the Idaho Department of Education, Office of Adult Education. A high school equivalency certificate not issued by the Idaho Department of Education (or another jurisdictional GED testing authority) may be of dubious value and may not be accepted by employers, colleges, universities, or the military.

IDOPL

CEI offers certain exams for the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (IDOPL), primarily for Drinking Water and Wastewater Professionals.

Candidates may need to schedule through PSI https://schedule.psiexams.com/, please contact the CEI Testing Center at 208-535-5438 to confirm.

ISDA

CEI offers exams for the Idaho State Department of Agriculture Division (ISDA) of Agriculture Resources. To schedule an exam, candidates must register for an account with Metro Institute Testing on their website.

Kryterion

CEI is a certified test center for Kryterion testing. To find out what exams are offered through Kryterion, and schedule an exam, visit the Kryerion website.

Meazure Learning

CEI offers exams for Meazure Learning as an authorized testing center. Meazure Learning provides exams for many agencies.

NOCTI

The CEI Testing Center is a NOCTI-certified testing partner. NOCTI provides exams primarily in the Career and Technical Education (CTE) fields that help with credentialing and other resources. More information for NOCTI exams can be found here.

Pearson VUE

CEI is a Pearson VUE Authorized Testing Center. We offer many Pearson VUE exams, including the GED exams, Idaho Real Estate exams, and many more. To find out if you can take a Pearson VUE exam at CEI, visit the Pearson VUE website at https://home.pearsonvue.com/ and search for the exam. Once you have found the exam you are trying to take, it will show the CEI Testing Center as an option if we can provide the exam. If we are not listed, you may contact the Testing Center at 208-535-5438 and verify the exam with the proctor.

Note: We cannot always provide all exams through Pearson VUE. If you do not see an exam, please contact us so that we can work with Pearson VUE to possibly bring that exam into our portfolio of exams offered.

PN Comprehensive Predictor

CEI offers the ATI - PN Comprehensive Predictor exam to students interested in the LPN-RN Bridge nursing program. 

A $30 proctoring fee will be charged and an additional fee of $71 will be paid directly to ATI during the test

Prov

CEI is a certified test center for Prov exams. To schedule an exam at CEI for a Prov exam, please visit the Prov website here. Candidates may also find out which exams are offered through Prov on their website.

PSI

CEI offers exams for PSI as an authorized testing center. PSI provides exams for many agencies.

Candidates must register for a PSI exam on the PSI website. To find out which exams are offered and to schedule an exam, visit their website.
