College of Eastern Idaho’s Workforce Training Apprenticeships Earn Federal Recognition

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — College of Eastern Idaho (CEI) is excited to announce that two of its Workforce Training and Continuing Education (WTCE) apprenticeship programs, in electrical and construction, have been awarded federal recognition through collaboration with Idaho Business for Education (IBE).

Lori Barber officially inaugurated as president of College of Eastern Idaho

It’s been about 100 days since Lori Barber took the helm of College of Eastern Idaho as its second president.
She was formally inaugurated in her new role Friday night during a celebration at the Downtown Event Center in Idaho Falls. During the event, Barber received high praise from local leaders, educators and the Idaho State Board of Education.

IDAHO FALLS – The completion of College of Eastern Idaho’s Professional Development Center is the culmination of an idea first proposed by former Bonneville County Commissioner Cliff Long.
That’s what Trevor Elordi, CEI’s vice president of workforce development and continuing education, told the crowd Thursday afternoon at a ribbon-cutting and open house of the new building.

IDAHO FALLS — College of Eastern Idaho is on track to have record-setting fall enrollment again. Three weeks into the new semester, CEI’s year-over-year enrollment was up 10.6% from Fall 2023, with many more students anticipated to enroll in early college and Block B courses throughout the semester.

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - The College of Eastern Idaho broke ground for its new future tech building Thursday morning.
The new 88,000 square-foot energy, innovation, and technology building will have two levels. It will hold courses for cyber security, energy systems, nuclear technology, and more.

IDAHO FALLS – College of Eastern Idaho officially broke ground on its new Future Tech Building Thursday morning.
Construction on the 88,000-square-foot building is now underway in an empty field on the north side of the Idaho Falls campus. The two-level building will house energy, innovation and technology-related courses, such as cybersecurity and mechatronics, as well as IT and STEM programs.
