EITC Now Officially CEI

Idaho Falls — The College of Eastern Idaho is officially up and running after hosting its first board meeting Monday evening.

Eastern Idaho Technical College is now a community college offering an associate of arts degree, and in January an associate of science degree. The college will continue its technical programs. The board meeting commemorated the school’s official name being in effect.

In May Bonneville County voters approved to turn Eastern Idaho Technical College into a community college, and they have been working quickly to open the college this fall.

Idaho’s State Board of Education is looking to fast-track the selection process for the board of trustees for a new community college in Eastern Idaho. The state board of education is less than two weeks away from screening applicants for five boards of trustee positions. Voters in Eastern Idaho have overwhelmingly approved converting a technical school into a community college. More than 70% of Bonneville County residents who voted in Tuesday’s election agreed to create a community college tax district. The initiative needed at least a two-thirds majority to pass.

Legacy Pathway Completion Announced

Eastern Idaho Technical College Foundation has introduced the Legacy Pathway, an engraved granite paver pathway with an outdoor seating area that has been built in the outdoor common area of EITC’s campus.
