Local Group Seeks Taxing District to Change EITC to College Of Eastern Idaho

Idaho Falls — Support to create a community college in Idaho Fall is growing and a local group is gathering signatures to create a community college district in Bonneville County.

Local Panel Recommends EITC Transition to a Community College

Idaho Falls — Results from a socioeconomic study announced Tuesday recommend that Eastern Idaho Technical College should transition into a community college.

If the plan were to be implemented, the technical college would keep its vocational programs while adding options for an Associate of Science or Associate of Arts degree.

Rep. Wendy Horman to Speak at Commencement

Eastern Idaho Technical College will hold its 2016 Commencement Tuesday, May 10, at 7:00 PM, in the Idaho Falls Civic Auditorium. Representative Wendy Horman will deliver the commencement address.

431 awards will be issued at EITC Commencement this year (236 Associate of Applied Science degrees/certificates and 195 General Education Development (GED) diplomas).

Community College Bill Passes Senate

Boise — A community college in eastern Idaho is now one step closer to becoming a reality.
A bill that creates the fund in which $5 million will be held to help pave the way for a community
college in eastern Idaho passed the Senate 27-7 on Thursday. The bill already passed the House, so it

Boise — Students at Eastern Idaho Technical College repeated as web design state champions and dominated the web categories of the post-secondary BPA competition. “What an amazing group of students. Way to bring home the gold!” stated Julie Anderson, EITC Web Development instructor.

Momentum Builds for Community College

With four classroom and 16 instructors, a College of Southern Idaho satellite campus is the only
place to take a community college course in person in eastern Idaho.

Roughly 200 students attend the CSI Idaho Falls campus, which opened in 2014. At capacity, it could
serve about 600.

Community College Panel Announced

Idaho Falls Mayor Rebecca Casper announced Tuesday who will serve on the city’s community
college citizen study panel.

The panel was created to gauge Bonneville County’s need for a community college, what steps would
be needed to convert Eastern Idaho Technical College into a community college and how much the
project would cost.

Notice: Upcoming NWCCU Accreditation Visit

The Northwestern Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) will perform a comprehensive accreditation evaluation visit to Eastern Idaho Technical College (EITC) on April 20-22, 2016. A NWCCU evaluation team will meet with campus students, faculty and staff to evaluate EITC’s accreditation status, in conjunction with EITC’s 2016 Year Seven Self-Evaluation Report.
